The effect of MOOSfree^® is based on the fact that copper ions inhibit the growth of mosses, lichens, and algae and cause them to disappear during time. For MOOSfree^® Fine copper threads are woven into a multi-layered fabric with a large specific surface area. This special copper tape, with a surface area equivalent to that of a 1.7-meter-wide sheet of copper, is affixed to the roof beneath the ridge using attached butyl adhesive strips.

Over time, water and oxygen from the surrounding environment cause the copper surface to oxidize on all sides, resulting in the continuous release of copper ions. The integrated, water-retaining textile fleece further enhances this effect, as the moisture required for the corrosion process is stored inside the copper strip following periods of precipitation or dew formation.

• Due to the undulation of roof tiles, length additions of between 10% and 15% of the stretched length may be necessary
• Each roll of MOOSfree^® completion tapes are included—two per 5 meters. Additional quantities can be ordered separately.
